Underwater Cleanup is Saturday, September 20th, Kicks Off Love Our Planet Week

This year’s final underwater cleanup will take place on September 20th, 2008, when it’s the kick-off event for the island’s Love Our Planet week.  This cleanup also marks the tenth anniversary of regular shoreline and underwater cleanups by Dive Friends Bonaire and NetTech.

Everyone is welcome, and those interested in participating should meet at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Dive Friends @ Yellow Submarine location for the briefing.  Shore support are always welcome to join in.  The area in front of the dive shop, part of the yacht anchorage, will be cleaned, and, since it’s been a year since the last cleanup at this location, the reef is probably ready for a beautification.

All participants are welcome to return in the late afternoon for the event’s customary BBQ; drinks and main courses will be provided by Dive Friends and NetTech, but participants are asked to bring a side dish to share.

In celebration of ten years of keeping Bonaire’s reefs clean, there will be a special raffle at the BBQ, and some great prizes will be awarded.  All participants are eligible for the raffle.
