Next CIEE Continuing Education Series Focuses Upon Lionfish

CIEE will host the next public lecture in their continuing education program on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 when Fadilah Ali will be back on Bonaire presenting, “Lionfish Management in the Caribbean.”

The invasive lionfish has been wreaking havoc throughout the Caribbean, however some islands are still relatively slow in beginning their management strategies. Fadilah Ali, a PhD student at the University of Southampton, in the UK, has been conducting research on lionfish ecology and management in many islands, and she will present her findings on the different strategies applied in these islands and their varying success rates. This public lecture will also introduce the new lionfish research and removal program at Klein Bonaire that is currently underway.

The lecture will take place at the CIEE headquarters at Kaya Gobernador N. Debrot 26 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.  Attendance is free, and all are welcome.  (Source:  CIEE Bonaire)
