Miss Bonaire Dazzles at the Miss Intercontinental 2012 Pageant

This past June, Saphira Elouise Janga, born on Bonaire on August 19, 1990, became the ambassador of Bonaire, when she was named Miss Bonaire 2012/2013.  Since that time, she has been kept very busy with personal appearances around the island, and most recently, she represented Bonaire at the Miss Intercontinental 2012 Pageant in Aachen, Germany, where she dazzled the world with her grace and charm.

Although a nurse by education, Saphira has always had an interest in modeling.  As Miss Bonaire, she will travel to the Miss World 2013 Competition in September, 2013, to represent the island in the pageant in Bali, Indonesia.

Her recent travels to the competition in Germany also created her first visit to Holland as well.  She spent an intensive week of training before heading off for an exciting, two-week tour through various cities in Germany.  She enjoyed the overwhelming welcome and hospitality of the Germans, as she traveled through Berlin, Nuremberg, Dusseldorf, Cologne, and other cities.  Then, on November 19th, the day came when the Miss Intercontinental Competition began.  It started with a press conference for media, and many, many rehearsals.  Friday was the big day when, after additional training and rehearsals, the show began with an explosion of color as the 53 contestants performed on stage in their national costumes, swimsuits, and evening gowns.  Italian star tenor, Christian Lanza, as well as soul legend, Keith Tynes (The Platters) joined on stage before the official coronation.  Although Saphira was up against very difficult competition, she managed to charm all that she met on the whirlwind tour.  The winner of the competition was Miss Venezuela, with first runner-up, Miss Puerto Rico, second runner-up, Miss England, third runner-up, Miss South Africa, and fourth runner up, Miss Thailand.

Miss Bonaire will continue now to make appearances back on Bonaire, as she prepares for the very important Miss World Competition.  Saphira, Bonaire is proud of you!  (Source:  Bonaire Insider Reporter)
