Greggy Girl, a Turtle Tracked from Bonaire Nesting Waters, is Back Home

When we last reported on Bonaire’s Greggy Girl, her story was not yet complete.

About three weeks ago, Greggy Girl turned back southwest, heading directly for Isla Margarita, an island off the coast of Venezuela.  She has now spent the last several weeks working her way up and down the eastern coastline of the island, and STCB theorizes that these are her home waters.  Her varying locations indicate that she is still making small-scale movements, as no doubt she is feeding on mollusks and crustaceans which make up the loggerhead diet.

STCB has alerted colleagues on Isla Margarita to the presence of this turtle in their waters. This data is all the more interesting since loggerheads are not commonly found as residents of the southern Caribbean.  (Source:  STCB)
