New Tourism Awareness Program for Bonaire is Ready to Begin
This week, an agreement for the implementation of a new Tourism Awareness Program was executed. This program, referred to as TAP, strives for a broader awareness of tourism among the Bonaire community.
The signing of the contract was completed by Mr. H. “Onnie” Emerenciana--Commissioner of Tourism, Miss Ronella Croes--Director of TCB, Mr. Lars Pieke--PNO Consultants Adviser, and Mrs. Annette van Rooijen--Match Consultantcy on behalf of the executing consortium.
TCB, the originator of the program, has been given financial support from USONA (Uitvoeringsorganisatie Stichting Ontwikkeling Nederlandse Antillen). In accordance with the detailed and intensive USONA procedures, TCB has appointed the Dutch Hotelschool, The Hague Performance Management, and Match Consultancy to form the Consortium for the execution of this program.
The TAP will focus on creating a new awareness within the Bonaire community so that all residents may understand the importance of tourism for our island and our individual economic and social well being. Additionally, throughout the entire program, emphasis will be placed upon the many fascinating opportunities that tourism offers. The project plan represents a wide variety of events, activities, and training seminars, which will be offered to the whole community. In the end, it is the goal of this program to enhance the standard of living on Bonaire, due to the stimulation of local participation in tourism employment. An overall result of the program will be the improvement of the quality of service provided to visiting tourists.
TCB expects the official kick off of the TAP to take place in April, 2007. (Source: Tourist Corporation Bonaire)
