American Airlines/American Eagle Announces Termination of San Juan-Bonaire Flights Effective May 1,

In a continuing effort to streamline operations and contain costs, American Airlines/American Eagle today announced that effective May 1, 2009, they will cease flights from their San Juan hub to Bonaire.

Passengers holding reservations for American Eagle flights between San Juan and Bonaire for travel after April 30, 2009 should contact American Airlines or their travel provider as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements.

There are still a variety of easy, non-stop flights available to passengers originating in North America with flights from Newark, New Jersey, New York, New York (JFK), Houston, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia.  Connecting flights to these gateways are available with good schedules.

Delta offers their weekly non-stop flight each Saturday from Atlanta to Bonaire and return.  Additionally, Delta operates a second weekly non-stop flight from New York’s JFK to Bonaire, also on Saturdays, during periods of peak demand.  For more information about Delta’s service to Bonaire, visit their web site at www.delta.com.

Continental Airlines offers two to three non-stop weekly flights. The first is a round-trip flight between Newark and Bonaire departing each Saturday evening.  Continental Airlines also flies a weekly non-stop rotation, departing Friday evenings from its Houston hub, and, during the eight busiest months of the year, Continental also operates a second rotation from Houston each Saturday evening, arriving on Bonaire on Sunday morning. For more information about when the second rotation operates, visit the Continental web site at www.continental.com

Those wishing to make connections in Miami can take advantage of the new service offered by Insel Air to Curacao.  Insel Air flies from Miami to Curacao four times each week with a schedule that provides ample connection time for continuing service to Bonaire or for a flight from Bonaire on a return itinerary.  Insel air also connects to Bonaire from Aruba via Curacao.  Additional information is available at the Insel Air web site at www.fly-inselair.com(Source:  TCB-NY and Bonaire Insider Reporter)
