Dive Friends Bonaire Introduces Dushi Shoes

Last Saturday, April 2, 2011, Kralendijk welcomed a new retail store to its ever-widening options, as Dive Friends Bonaire opened its third retail store, Dushi Shoes.

Although Dive Friends Bonaire has offered footwear for several years via its two other retail stores on Kaya Grandi, Dushi Shoes now offers expanded and specialized lines, perfect for Bonaire’s active visitors and residents.

Dushi Shoes, which held an opening event last Friday, now offers Birkenstock, Reef, Nike, Crocs, Cobian, Ocean Minded, as well as additional brands.  Ocean Minded is a new brand for Bonaire, and one that is perfect for the eco-minded diver to wear, as, since 1996, Ocean Minded’s products are made from recycled materials to minimize their environmental impact.  In fact, the company operates on the premise that everything eventually ends up in the ocean, and the company has organized community beach cleanups around the world and strives to educate their customers on the importance of leaving their chosen playgrounds in a better condition than those in which they found them.

Dushi Shoes is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 5:30.  It’s located at Kaya Almirante Pedro Louis Brion #1 in Kralendijk.  (Source:  Dive Friends Bonaire)

Revised Schedule for Continental Airlines’ Service to Bonaire from Newark (New Jersey, USA)

The Bonaire Insider has just received notice that Continental Airlines has revised the frequency of their flights from Newark in the United States to Bonaire.

Throughout this month, the Newark-Bonaire southbound flight will continue weekly on Saturdays, returning northbound on Sundays.

Beginning in May, and continuing through August 12, the southbound flight will be weekly on Fridays, returning northbound on Saturdays. As in the past, these flights are seasonal, which means that service is curtailed during the periods of lowest demand, which is August 12 through October 31 this year. In November, the southbound weekly Friday flight will resume, returning northbound on Saturdays.

In February, 2012, there will be two weekly southbound flights on Fridays and Saturdays, returning northbound on Saturdays and Sundays. In January and March of 2012, the southbound weekly Friday flight remains, returning northbound on Saturdays. (Source:  TCB-NY)
