Antillean Wine Company to Hold Monthly Wine Tasting
This Saturday April 9, 2011 will be the monthly wine tasting at the Antillean Wine Company. The event is attended by locals and visitors alike, providing a fun, informal atmosphere to sample new wines and socialize.
The tasting features a mixture of three whites and three reds and is accompanied by snacks, for a price of $10 per person. The event will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Antillean Wine Company, located at Kaya Industria 23.
Visitors will also have a chance to see the large assortment of new wine arrivals. From Italy, these include wines from New Bio, which is organic, Cielo, Freschello, Terre Allegre, Rocca Delle Macie from Tuscany, including olive oil, San’ Alfonso, Terre de Noce, MezzaCorona, Villa Albuis and Stemmar-Feudo Arancio, both from Sicily. From California, there is a selection from Crane Lake.
Furthermore, the Antillean Wine Company is supporting the Animal Shelter by providing second-hand books, on sale for just $1.25. All are invited to attend. (Source: Antillean Wine Company)

Krabe Apartments Bonaire Launches New Web Site
Krabe Apartments located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Nikiboko has just launched a new web site highlighting their three new apartments. The web site provides information about the accommodations and amenities for travelers considering a relaxing and comfortable place to stay while visiting Bonaire.
Your hosts who are long time residents of Bonaire, have created three new lovely two bedroom apartments near the center of Bonaire, just one mile from downtown Kralendijk and within walking distance of supermarkets and restaurants. The new web site describes in detail the amenities of the apartments, which include a full kitchen, along with pictures of the units and reservation and contact information. The reservation page of the web site allows visitors to make reservations online by filling in the reservation form or sending an email.

Dive Friends Bonaire Introduces Dushi Shoes
Last Saturday, April 2, 2011, Kralendijk welcomed a new retail store to its ever-widening options, as Dive Friends Bonaire opened its third retail store, Dushi Shoes.

Although Dive Friends Bonaire has offered footwear for several years via its two other retail stores on Kaya Grandi, Dushi Shoes now offers expanded and specialized lines, perfect for Bonaire’s active visitors and residents.

Dushi Shoes, which held an opening event last Friday, now offers Birkenstock, Reef, Nike, Crocs, Cobian, Ocean Minded, as well as additional brands. Ocean Minded is a new brand for Bonaire, and one that is perfect for the eco-minded diver to wear, as, since 1996, Ocean Minded’s products are made from recycled materials to minimize their environmental impact. In fact, the company operates on the premise that everything eventually ends up in the ocean, and the company has organized community beach cleanups around the world and strives to educate their customers on the importance of leaving their chosen playgrounds in a better condition than those in which they found them.

All Are Welcome to Join the Underwater Cleanup on Saturday, April 9, 2011
The next underwater cleanup will take place at the dock in front of It Rains Fishes. Check in at Dive Friends @ Yellow Submarine at 12:30 PM, and the dive briefing will begin at 1:00 PM.
Everyone is welcome, and those not diving can also help, since shore support is always needed. All participants are welcome to return at 5:00 PM for the event’s customary BBQ at Dive Friends @ Yellow Sub; drinks and main courses will be provided by Dive Friends and NetTech, but participants are asked to bring a side dish to share.
Those planning on attending should advise Dive Friends Bonaire by sending an email to cleanup@dive-friends-bonaire.com or calling 717-2929 to make a reservation.

Revised Schedule for Continental Airlines’ Service to Bonaire from Newark (New Jersey, USA)
The Bonaire Insider has just received notice that Continental Airlines has revised the frequency of their flights from Newark in the United States to Bonaire.
Throughout this month, the Newark-Bonaire southbound flight will continue weekly on Saturdays, returning northbound on Sundays.
Beginning in May, and continuing through August 12, the southbound flight will be weekly on Fridays, returning northbound on Saturdays. As in the past, these flights are seasonal, which means that service is curtailed during the periods of lowest demand, which is August 12 through October 31 this year. In November, the southbound weekly Friday flight will resume, returning northbound on Saturdays.
In February, 2012, there will be two weekly southbound flights on Fridays and Saturdays, returning northbound on Saturdays and Sundays. In January and March of 2012, the southbound weekly Friday flight remains, returning northbound on Saturdays. (Source: TCB-NY)

Classical Music Board Announces Next Concert to Be Held Saturday April 16
Venezuelan pianist Ana Karina Alamo will be performing at the next Classical Music Board concert on Saturday April 16, 2011 in Cacique Hall at Plaza Resort Bonaire starting at 7:30 PM.
Ms. Alamo is a highly regarded international soloist and started performing at the age of six with a recital for an audience of 500 people. Her concert debut was at the age of nine with the Jovenes Arcos Orchestra, where she performed the piece “Pequena Fantasia” which written for her by Alejandro Slobodianik. At the age of eleven, she recorded this work with the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra.
She has since performed with many groups including The Simon Bolivar Venezuelan Youth Orchestra, The San Francisco Symphony, The Fort Worth Symphony, The Maracaibo Symphony, and The New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestras. She has also appeared with The Chamber Orchestra of Venezuela, The Russian National Orchestra, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, in many prestigious venues across South America, Europe and the United States.
Ms. Alamo will be playing selections from various artists including Beethoven, Schumann, Medtner, Scriabin and Lecuona.
