Bonaire Hospitality Group manages three popular Bonaire resorts--Buddy Dive, Belmar Oceanfront Apartments, and Caribbean Club.  The management group has recently announced upcoming specials for all three properties.

New DVD Review:  The Beauty of Bonaire, By Marlis Seelos

The Bonaire Insider has previously highlighted the photography of local resident, Marlis Seelos.  Marlis has just recently published a new DVD of the best of her Bonaire images.

The DVD runs for about 20 minutes with hundreds of images covering all facets of the island, including its flora and fauna, historic architecture, and, of course, the Caribbean Sea.  Affectionately known on Bonaire as the Bird Woman of Bonaire, Marlis’ love for birds and other island animals clearly shines through in the stunning closeup images she displays on the DVD.  Throughout the DVD, relaxing background music plays, which meshes well with her photography.

Seventh Bonaire Special Olympics Walk-a-Thon is Sunday, February 8, 2009

The Walk-a-Thon is a popular event that helps the local chapter of Special Olympics, and it is held in the first quarter of the year.  This year’s event will be conducted this Sunday, February 8, 2009.

The walk commemorates the historical route from the island’s White Slave Huts to Rincon, and begins early on Sunday at 5:00 AM.  There will be scheduled water and snack stops approximately every 3 miles (5 kilometers).  Food and drinks will be available at the finish line for all participants, and lunch will be served at Pasadia Karino Rincon from 10:00 AM through 1:00 PM.  The route may be walked, run, or cycled, either in its entirety or just a part.

Entry fee is FL 25.00 per person (about USD $14.04), and includes an event t-shirt.  Registration cards can be purchased in advance at Xerox or Chat ‘n’ Browse, or contact a Special Olympics Board Member.

Jong Bonaire Organizes Second Annual Fun Walk

As part of the yearly fund-raising efforts for Jong Bonaire, the island’s “after-school” center for Bonaire’s teens, the center will hold its Second Annual Fun Walk on Sunday, March 1, 2009. 

There’s a 20 kilometer walk with an alternative bike route for those who prefer to cycle it.  The walk begins at 6:00 AM.  Additional information is available on the event poster by clicking here (in PDF format).  Entry fee is FL 15.00 (about USD $8.43) per person, while children under 12 pay FL 10.00 (about USD $5.62).
